Hello, we’re CalTrin!
Launched in January 2021, the California Training Institute (also known as CalTrin), delivers science-based, professional development and extended learning to staff of Family Resource Centers (FRCs), Child Abuse Prevention Councils (CAPCs), and child welfare agencies in the state of California.
We believe that prevention-focused, professional development should be accessible and applicable to your daily work. Watch this video for a quick overview of what the means for YOU!
As the video explained, our programs and resources are aligned within these four domains:
CalTrin’s innovative learning model enables child- and family-serving professionals to choose training and educational experiences that work for your schedule, learning style, and career path—all at no cost to learners! It also provides opportunities to extend learning beyond an individual training event by supporting participants with related resources and practical applications.
Our training offerings include live, virtual events, self-paced courses, and in-person experiences within the four pillars. View our full training calendar!
CalTrin is funded by the California Department of Social Services, Office of Child Abuse Prevention and managed by the Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego Evidence-Based Practices Team, which also manages our sister program, the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC).
In December 2022, we conducted our second Needs Assessment survey. We received responses from more than 200 child- and family-serving professionals across California. The Needs Assessment Summary shares the results of the 2022 survey, including key highlights about the training we have delivered so far and how we plan to use what we’ve learned. Read it here.
