I attended a CalTrin training. How do I get a Certificate of Completion?
If you attended a CalTrin training event or series, a link to the Certificate of Completion can typically be found at the conclusion of your end-of-training survey. This link is provided during the training event and also typically in a follow-up email. If you attended a training and did not receive a link to complete the survey and receive your certificate, please contact us.
How much does CalTrin training cost?
All CalTrin content and training are provided at no cost to learners and participants. The California Training Institute (CalTrin) is funded by the Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP) and the State of California to provide comprehensive, evidence-based professional learning programs to meet the needs of administrators, staff, and stakeholders of Family Resources Centers (FRCs), Child Abuse Prevention Councils (CAPCs), and other family strengthening child abuse prevention organizations in California.
If a training is full, will a waitlist be available?
In some cases, there will be limited capacity for small-group training events. When capacity has been reached, the training will indicate a “full” status in which case, you may be placed on a waitlist. If you have any questions about attending a training that is currently full, you can send a message to the CalTrin team here. Please include the title of the training.
How do you decide who gets accepted to a training? Is it first-come, first-served?
In most cases, our large format webinars are first-come, first-served. However, in cases where there are limited seats available, registration preference is given to California staff of FRCs, CAPCs, and other family strengthening child abuse prevention organizations and systems.
I registered for a CalTrin training. Why haven’t I received a training link?
You would have received a confirmation to the email you utilized during registration. If you are unable to find your registration confirmation after double-checking your inbox and spam, please contact the CalTrin team.
I don’t work in California. Can I attend a CalTrin training?
In most cases, our large format webinars are open to all on a first-come, first-served basis. However, in cases where there are limited seats available, registration preference is given to California staff of FRCs, CAPCs, and other child abuse prevention organizations and networks.
Does CalTrin provide in-person training?
At this time, CalTrin does not provide training opportunities in-person. However, we would love to connect with you about your training needs and explore alternative options.
Who funds CalTrin?

Does CalTrin provide direct services or training to families and/or caregivers?
No, CalTrin does not provide direct services or training to families and/or caregivers. Instead, we were designed to support and empower family-serving professionals.
What type of trainings does CalTrin offer?
Our innovative learning model enables family-serving professionals to choose training and educational experiences that work for their schedule, learning style, and career path—all at no cost to learners. Learners engage with CalTrin by attending live, virtual training, completing self-paced courses, and exploring our extensive archive of recorded trainings and materials. Training is organized around four domains: Direct Service Delivery Skills, Evidence-Based/Evidence-Informed Service Delivery, Management & Leadership Development, and Trauma-Informed Systems.
How can I suggest a training topic or specific training?
We welcome your suggestions for training topics or presenters.
Can AI Assistants be used during a training?
California privacy laws mandate consent for recording conversations using AI applications. To ensure a respectful and secure learning environment for all participants, AI assistants (such as OtterBot, ReadAI, etc.) will be removed from training. An accessible learning environment is important to us. If you require an accommodation to support your learning, please email us at least 3 business days before the training.
