Trauma-Informed Care Foundations: Understanding Trauma, Adaptation, & Healing

During this two-hour webinar, participants will explore the foundations of trauma-informed care and how they can be applied across a variety of child- and family-serving settings. The session will examine how stress, adversity, and trauma shape human adaptation, relationships, and behavior, providing a practical framework for understanding the experiences of both clients and professionals. Participants will learn the core principles of trauma-informed care, including how to foster safety, trust, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural responsiveness in everyday interactions and organizational practices.
The presentation will also explore the impact of trauma on the workforce, including secondary traumatic stress and burnout, and highlight practical strategies for creating environments that support resilience and healing for both staff and the people they serve. Throughout the session, participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own role in building trauma-informed organizations and identify meaningful actions they can take—regardless of their position—to strengthen trauma-informed practices within their daily work.
