The Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework from the Center for the Study of Social Policy distills extensive research in child and family development into a core set of five protective factors that everyone can understand and recognize in their own lives. The Protective Factors Framework is the basis for a research-informed approach to strengthening families, enhancing child development, and reducing the likelihood of childhood abuse and neglect.

Strengthening Families and the Protective Factors: Leadership Workshop and Roundtable Session

Your employees and coworkers know about Strengthening Families and how the work they do promotes the Protective Factors. Now what? Organizational transformation means moving beyond education, toward integration and accountability. In this 2-part leadership workshop, learn how to move your team to the next level. Explore how to articulate the Protective Factors as outcomes, form new partnerships to reinforce Protective Factors, and identify changes to practices, policies or services to maximize integration. Finally, ensure accountability by deciding how your organization can demonstrate capacity to build the Protective Factors and evaluate its success along the way.

Objectives:

  1. Define the Three Steps to Becoming a Strengthening Families Agency
  2. Identify everyday actions workers and organizations consciously use in each of the steps
  3. Understand the challenges of managing complex change
  4. Plan to make changes in policy/practices/services to maximize integration of the Protective Factor framework and ensure accountability

Who should attend: Organizational leaders who attended Protective Factors 101 and/or are familiar with the Strengthening Families approach.
