TRAINING DETAILS:
Do you believe that social media is impacting the mental health of our youth? This training provides the latest research from the Surgeon General of the US about how social media decreases social connections, social capital, and community. This erosion has contributed to the mental health crisis of our young people.
This session will provide an overview of the challenges as well as tangible interventions to address how to support youth and their families. Participants will walk away with tools to engage and support young people and their families in using social media in healthy ways as well as learn ways to create social capital and community. Please join us for an engaging, interactive, and solution focused opportunity to improve the mental health of youth and families.
Participants will be able to:
- Identify how social media impacts youth mental health
- Explain how the latest research can educate professionals and families to address social media usage and plan development
- Practice activities that professionals can use to educate young people and their families

Who should attend: All staff of family resource centers (FRCs), Child Abuse Prevention Councils (CAPCs), community-based organizations, and other child- and family-serving systems.

- This is a webinar-style training. This means that you will not be on camera and will not be able to see other learners. This training will not include breakout rooms. Opportunities to interact with the presenter(s) and other participants will be included.
- This training will be recorded. The recording will be available to registered learners within 2 days of the training.

MEET THE SPEAKER
Dr. Julie Radlauer is a keynote speaker, founder of Collectively, and best-selling author of CONNECT. 100 Ways to Create Happiness in your Life. As a leading expert in the social influences of mental health she uses her experience in Wraparound, social connections, and equity to impact communities, systems, organizations, and individuals. Her approach is collaborative, creative, and curious as she strives to educate the masses about how they can impact mental health for themselves and those around them.
She has extensive experience in behavioral health, public health, and organizational development for more than 25 years. Through training, coaching, curriculum development, and writing she assists helping professionals in creating better outcomes with the youth and families they support. Her research on structural racism in the behavioral health field has led to the development of a national curriculum designed to create more equitable systems.
She speaks internationally and participated as a TEDx Miami speaker on social support, and social connectedness and is passionate about creating a world where positive mental health is a human right. She is a fun, energetic and engaging speaker who guarantees that participants will walk away with tangible tools to support better mental health for all!
