TRAINING DETAILS:
Develop an understanding of inclusive language, learn to recognize and avoid microaggressions, and build intercultural competency skills. Explore the impact of microaggressions and how to prevent them, then focus on intercultural skills like understanding cultural norms, identifying personal biases, and practicing effective communication across diverse backgrounds.
Learners will:
- Build awareness of how your own cultural background, values, and experiences shape the way you see and interact with others.
- Adopt an open and curious attitude by practicing growth mindset, empathy, and respect when engaging across cultural differences.
- Increase knowledge of cultural values, communication styles, and workplace norms to better understand how people from different cultures work and make decisions.
- Strengthen insive skills such as active listening, perspective‑taking, flexing communication styles, and responding constructively to microaggressions.
Desarrollar una comprensión del lenguaje inclusivo, aprender a reconocer y evitar las microagresiones y desarrollar habilidades de competencia intercultural. Explorar el impacto de las microagresiones y la manera de prevenirlas, y luego enfocarse en habilidades interculturales como comprender las normas culturales, identificar los prejuicios personales y practicar una comunicación eficaz con personas de diversos orígenes.

- Fortalece tus habilidades de inclusión, como la escucha activa, la capacidad de ponerse en el lugar del otro, la adaptación de los estilos de comunicación y la respuesta constructiva ante las microagresiones.
Who should attend: All staff of family resource center (FRCs), child abuse prevention councils (CAPCs), community-based organizations, and other child- and family-serving systems.
IMPORTANT TRAINING INFORMATION:
- This is a webinar-style training. This means that you will not be on camera and will not be able to see other learners. This training will not include breakout rooms. Opportunities to interact with the presenter(s) and other participants will be included.
- This training will be recorded. The recording will be available to registered learners within 2 days of the training.
- California privacy laws mandate consent for recording conversations using AI applications. To ensure a respectful and secure learning environment for all participants, AI assistants are not allowed in CalTrin training. We value an accessible learning environment. MEET THE SPEAKER
Ash Ramirez (they/elle/Papi) is a Trans Queer Latine DEI strategist and creative producer with over nine years of experience across creative and entertainment industries. A native Tejane from Texas with mestizo and Two-Spirit heritage, they design and scale intentional, human-centered initiatives that drive lasting change. Through their speaking, consulting, and facilitation, Ash shares their journey to empower others to embrace authenticity and cultivate inclusive, compassionate spaces for all. Beyond the workplace, they are known as Papi Culo, a Latin Non-Binary Drag King and founder of Papi Creative Productions—a production haus bringing inclusive experiences to life through art, storytelling, and community engagement in San Antonio, Texas.
