Sheila is a Content Specialist at CalTrin, bringing more than 20 years of experience in writing and communications to the role. She holds a B.A. in Journalism & Communications and an M.A., with distinction, in Public Relations & Advertising. Sheila contributes to the development of training content and marketing materials, including the CalTrin Connect newsletter, blog, microlearnings, video testimonials, and social media – find us on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube! She believes that challenges make life interesting, but helping others to overcome those challenges makes life meaningful. Sheila is passionate about helping to create a brighter future for youth and their families.

lana lo, MA

project COORDINATOR

Lana is a Project Coordinator at CalTrin with over 15 years of experience in project management within the nonprofit sector. She holds a Master of Arts in Learning and Teaching with Technology and has extensive experience with designing engaging learning experiences. In her current role, she supports training logistics and ongoing enhancements to CalTrin’s learning management system. She is passionate about lifelong learning and committed to equipping professionals working within child and family services with the tools to grow and succeed.

JESSICA MATTLY, MBA

TRAINING COORDINATOR & Facilitator

Jessica is a Training Coordinator & Facilitator for CalTrin, where she helps ensure staff, administrators, and stakeholders working in child abuse prevention services have access to high-quality training and resources. With a background in human resources, training & development, and public speaking, she has dedicated her career to designing, implementing, and facilitating engaging learning programs for leaders and direct service staff. Jessica is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and a Certified Master Trainer with the Association for Talent Development (ATD). She also holds certification in the Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support through the National Family Support Network.

Michelle Neumann, MSW, RYT-224

TRAINING COORDINATOR

Michelle Neumann, MSW, RYT-224, is a Training Coordinator for the California Training Institute (CalTrin) at Rady Children’s Hospital, where she designs and delivers engaging, evidence-based learning experiences for professionals who support children and families across California. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California and brings over nine years of experience in youth development, higher education, and community-based mental health. Michelle’s work is deeply personal. She spent time in foster care in San Diego County before being adopted at age six, and her lived experience as a queer-identifying former foster child fuels her lifelong commitment to healing-centered engagement, equity, and prevention. Over the past decade, she has supported foster children and youth as a policy advocate, college counselor, and program manager. As a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor, Michelle integrates mindfulness and nervous system regulation into her work. At CalTrin, she is dedicated to equipping professionals with the tools they need to prevent child maltreatment and promote family well-being through high-quality, accessible education.

HAILEY NEWTON

BUSINESS ANALYST

As a Business Analyst for both CalTrin and the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC), Hailey reviews, analyzes, and reports on program data as well as manages and tracks training initiatives. She holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and has extensive experience with administrative, early childhood, prevention, and project management work. Hailey is driven by the desire to improve the learning experiences of staff and equip them with the information and tools they need to help children and families flourish.

MEGAN PLATT

CONTENT & DESIGN SPECIALIST

Megan is a Content & Design Specialist at CalTrin. In her role, she leads the design, development, and implementation of all branding, print and electronic media, and marketing materials across CalTrin and several grant-funded projects at the Chadwick Center, including the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC). Megan feels grateful for the unique opportunity to use her design skills to help children and families. 

 

JENNIFER ROLLS REUTZ, MPH

DIRECTOR

Jennifer is the Director of both CalTrin and the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC). In this role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of both projects and is responsible for their delivery and overall success. Her experiences as a foster and adoptive parent have allowed her to see multiple sides of the child welfare and behavioral health systems and encouraged her belief in the power of natural supports, prevention and early intervention, data-driven decision-making, and second chances. 

KASEY WHITE

TRAINING COORDINATOR

Kasey is a Training Coordinator for the California Training Institute (CalTrin), where she designs and facilitates learning opportunities to strengthen families and prevent child maltreatment. She holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice and has extensive experience in forensic interviewing, child advocacy, and nonprofit leadership. Kasey is also a certified facilitator for Stewards of Children® and HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences), equipping professionals and community members with everyday tools to both prevent abuse and promote child and family well-being. Her previous work at a children’s advocacy center gave her deep insight into the challenges faced by children who have experienced abuse and neglect, reinforcing her belief in prevention as the most powerful strategy. In her role at CalTrin, Kasey is committed to delivering high-quality, engaging trainings that empower practitioners to recognize, respond to, and prevent abuse while creating safer, healthier environments where children and families can thrive.

BESSIE WOODWARD

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE

Bessie is the Administrative Associate for both CalTrin and the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC). In this role, she supports all administrative functions and manages data entry for both websites. Bessie’s inspiration to work in child welfare comes from her family’s deep ties to the medical field. Her nieces are doctors and nurses, and her son is a respiratory therapist. They are all heroes to Bessie, and she admires their hard work and dedication.
