Engaging Youth Authentically in the Policy Process

June 10, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am PDT

Young people with lived experience navigating youth-serving systems (e.g., child welfare, employment) play an important and unique role in identifying, formulating, advocating for, and implementing policy changes to better meet their needs. In partnership with a Research Group of youth and adult representatives from five Conrad N. Hilton Foundation grantee organizations,* Child Trends conducted a qualitative study to better understand how organizations engage youth, factors that help and hinder authentic youth engagement, and outcomes associated with authentic youth engagement

In this webinar, you’ll hear from Research Group members and Child Trends staff as we share what we learned from exploring recent policy wins from each organization. Research Group members will engage in a panel conversation about our findings, and we’ll share the resources we developed, including a profile of each policy win and a summary report. As organizations, public partners, and funders increasingly engage young people in the policy process, we have valuable insights to share.
