An effective team is a great asset to your organization; an ineffective one can damage productivity and morale and can be detrimental to your long-term organizational health. As we all know, teams are made up of individuals with different work experience and backgrounds, each with their own working style and expertise. These dynamics can often lead to conflict when colleagues don’t have the tools they need to work together. This session will show teams how to use an understanding of individuals’ social styles and values to create a more effective working environment, leverage collective assets, and work together more strategically. Participants will discover ways to identify barriers, such as implicit vs. explicit agreements, explore how to use team charters to set yourselves up for success, as well as tips for great team meetings.

Who should attend: Staff in leadership roles in family resource centers, child abuse prevention councils, and other child and family-serving organizations.
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
- This is an interactive training. Please be prepared to participate in activities such as group discussion, break out rooms, and/or demonstration. Your training experience will be best with the use of a web cam, audio, and a training environment conducive to active participation.
- This is a small-group training. Spaces are limited space and there may be a waiting list. Preference will be given to applicants from California. Applicants will be contacted by the week of April 17, 2023.
- CalTrin “No Show” Policy. While CalTrin training is provided at no cost to learners, it requires significant financial and human resources to provide high-quality, small-group interactive training experiences. In addition, these trainings frequently have a waiting list. Applicants who are selected but dodo not attend and do not contact CalTrin in advance may not be selected for future application-based small group trainings.

MEET THE SPEAKERS
Ronesha is a passionate non-profit professional and IDEAL practitioner dedicated to centering inclusivity, diversity, equity, access and liberation. Her passion for IDEAL ignited after a personal experience in her teenage years. Since then, she has spent her career partnering with the local community. She has worked primarily with individuals from historically excluded communities, through her work as a trauma informed case manager, wrap-around facilitator, juvenile probation officer, volunteer court appointed special advocate (CASA) and more recently as the executive director of a youth focused organization. Throughout her career, she has interfaced with and guided dozens of diverse teams to reach strong outcomes using collaborative methods. She has a successful track record of leading teams through times of change and organizational development. Ronesha considers herself an advocate for leadership professionals and works to inspire organizations to center IDEAL and wellness to strengthen the field of philanthropy. Ronesha holds an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and a master of science (MSc.) in nonprofit and association management.

Elizabeth Yarly is an organizational development practitioner with fifteen years of experience facilitating the success of global initiatives, and an adult learning specialist skilled in learning design for transformational change. Driven by research, storytelling, and a compelling personal narrative, Elizabeth’s work embodies her mission to address systematic disparities and improve well-being outcomes for people. She has managed the success of initiatives in over seventeen countries, demonstrating a proven ability to drive cross-sector strategies and collaboration with/within large-matrix organizations and small grass-roots initiatives. Elizabeth is a Doctor of Public Health candidate, completing her organizational development research at the Rutgers School of Public Health. She also holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the Kean University School of Health and Human Performance.
