How States Can Develop and Sustain Evidence-Based Policymaking: Lessons from Minnesota and New Mexico

May 6 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

Free

The Pew Charitable Trusts’ Results First initiative will host a webinar to discuss core strategies for developing and sustaining evidence-based policymaking efforts in state governments. Two states, Minnesota and New Mexico, have become leaders in this field, embedding evidence into the fabric of their decision making.

These states have worked to ensure that their efforts are systematic, sustainable, and able to withstand challenges, including tightening budgets and changes in legislative and executive leadership. Pew recently published a brief offering lessons from their experiences. Join us to hear directly from Minnesota and New Mexico leaders about how they’ve achieved this, and to ask questions in order to learn from their work.

Speakers:

  • Weston Merrick, Manager, Impact Evaluation Unit at Minnesota Management and Budget
  • Patrick Carter, Coordinator, Results Management Unit at Minnesota Management and Budget
  • Charles Sallee, Deputy Director, New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee
